Entries are now live for the 2012 Halo British Downhill Series. This is your chance to enter the number one National Series in the World and rub tyres (
if you're fast enough) with the likes of Steve Peat, Danny Hart, Gee Atherton, Brendan Fairclough, Marc Beaumont, Josh Bryceland and Alex Bond, as well as some other big international names that have already confirmed.
The entire 2011 series sold out in less than two days based on the requirement of a single British Cycling point to enter. For 2012 we have raised the entry criteria to 100 B.C points, as well as adding an extra round to the racing calendar. If you are an international rider wanting to enter please drop me an e-mail to
si@descent-gear.com. Make sure you finish in the top half of your category back home and I'll grant you an entry!
Halo BDS 2012 Dates and Venues:• Round 1- 14/15th April, Combe Sydenham in the South West of England.
• Round 2- 12/13th May, Fort William, SCotland.
• Round 3- 7/8th July, Glencoe, Scotland.
• Round 4- 4/5th August, Caersws, Mid Wales.
• Round 5- 25/26th August, Bringewood, Ludlow, England.
• Round 6- 22/23rd September, Llangollen, Mid Wales.
*Two in Scotland, two in Wales and two in England. The first time we have an equal split.• British Cycling National Champs 21/22nd July, Moelfre, Mid Wales.
All national races are UCI category 2 ranked except for Caersws, which means UCI points are available. Earn enough of those and then go UCI World Cup Racing! The Prize Fund is swelling at over £50,000, with prize money in excess of a wallet busting £15,000 for the series. Product prizes for each category will total an amazing £35,000.
Practice will take place all day Saturday and Sunday morning, with qualifying and one race run on Sunday afternoon. Live timing is by Tag Heuer, trophies from Hope Technology, live commentating by Toby Parodi, onsite catering, marquees, beer tent, pro pits, display stands and retail units to pick up a bargain from. We also offer plenty of parking, camping and spectating.
How to enter the 2012 Halo British Downhill Series::• Entries go live on January 3rd at 12:00 via the
British Cycling Website.
• Entry fee is £70.00 per round, plus the B.C booking fee of £0.60 per round.
• You will need to have a valid British Cycling membership and a Race License. Foreign riders please contact me directly at
si@descent-gear.com• You will need 100 B.C points from 2011 to enter on January 3rd 2012. If places are still available come February 1st we will lower the points criteria to 1 point.
• If there are spaces later on in the season you'll be able enter, but will need at least 1 B.C point from either 2011 or the current 2012 season.
Pinkbike will be at every round of the Halo BDS in 2012, covering every aspect of the series with in depth interviews, bike checks, track walk videos, race footage and those all important results!
